The company also predicts China's economic activity will continue to suffer from a weak external demand picture. It expects China to expand 7.5 per cent in 2013, 7.4 per cent in 2014, and 6.6 per cent in 2015. 'Data surprises are positive' China's GDP growth for the year to the end of March 2012 averaged about 8 per cent, before the global financial crisis but since then has slumped to 6.9 per cent. McGraw-Hill Economics expects the economy to get a further boost in the fourth quarter of this year thanks to the effect of the recovery from last year's Olympics, although this is then seen declining to a still robust 6.3 per cent for 2012 as the government continues to clamp down on credit expansion. The second-quarter growth rate of 10.1 per cent for this year, however, will be well down on 13.5 per cent in the previous year. McGraw Hill Economics's economists Richard Burton and Li Xingang wrote that "with many worrying about a hard landing of China's economy, we see data surprises as positive, highlighting potential over-reaction in the futures markets". "There is no need for a hard landing in the near term: the global economy is forecast to grow this year at its fastest pace since the recovery began. But a hard landing remains in the not-too-distant future, if a recovery in the developed world ends up slowing." For 2013, the economists predict 5.7 per cent growth, with projections for 2014 and 2015 both at 7.5 per cent. The third-quarter growth rate for this year was a relatively solid 10.2 per cent, and the first-half growth rate was 9.9 per cent. McGraw Hill Economics expects the economy to get a further boost in the fourth quarter of this year thanks to the effect of the recovery from last year's Olympics, although this is then seen declining to a still robust 6.3 per cent for 2012 as the government continues to clamp 1cdb36666d
