While complete remission (CR) rates exceeding 50% with CEA treatment are well documented, response rates after intensification with auto-PBSCT are still well below 50%. Thus, there is a need for alternative therapy for patients with refractory CTCL. In view of the proven efficacy of the combined use of the anti-CD30 antibody (moxetumomab pasudotox) and interferon-alpha-2a (moxetumomab pasudotox/IFN-alpha-2a) in CD30+ CTCL patients, this therapy was tested in patients who had previously failed to achieve CR after standard CEA/auto-PBSCT. One patient, who had undergone a modified auto-PBSCT because of unacceptable toxicity during the standard treatment, showed an excellent response to moxetumomab pasudotox treatment, whereas another patient did not respond.
